The Big Hammer 6.5" Swimbaits are soft plastic swimbait tails designed to offer versatility of species in both fresh and saltwater. A long time favorite of California saltwater anglers fishing for Calico and Kelp Bass as well as rockfish such as ling cod. These boot tail swimbaits, deliver the perfect action and size to mimic many forage fish big game species feed upon. Big Hammer Swimbaits standout among the ever-growing swimbait market due to their dual action swimming motion that experienced swimbait anglers understand to be a key element in presenting a realistic appearance. The flat tail of the Big Hammer Swimbaits creates the side to side tail kick and the shape of the body creates the wobbling effect. It's this realistic swimming action that sets the 6.5" Big Hammer Swimbait apart from many on the market and the main reason anglers still turn to the Big Hammer Swimbaits to deliver for them day in and day out. The Big Hammer Swimbaits come in colors that are able to match any forage fish all over the country both saltwater and freshwater.
The 6.5" size in particular is a big time ling cod and halibut up the northwest coast. The slightly larger size makes the bait much more noticeable in the water and much more accurately mimics the larger bait the true predators are feeding upon. Attached to the back of a big jig head it's going to give off the most awesome tail-kicking action as it is retrieved through rocks, kelp and varying bottom compositions. With the wide array of colors offered by Big Hammer, you'll be able to imitate juvenile ling cod, squid, octopi, anchovies and herring - all food sources of the bottom dwelling species of the pacific northwest.
The Big Hammer 6.5" Swimbaits are offered as singles and packaged in a ziploc bag. When purchasing, the quantity is 1=1 - ex: if you'd like 10 baits, your quantity will be 10.

Works well for lingcod, could be more durable

Great swimbait
These are my go to baits for rockfish and lingcod. I really like the 6.5" size as it tends to get attention from big rockfish and lingcod but isnt so big that you need to worry about short bites on quality fish without a trap hook. Pearl, bleeding trout, and deep purple are what I use and they all get bit. Soft swimbait with great swimming action but as a result they are a bit fragile

Not sturdy enough
Great appearance, but when I inserted the 2 1/2 oz. arrow jig head into the bait, the top pour split from the main body, reducing the overall size. With minimal use, the pieces continued to separate further, weakening the tail to limit its swimming action. I won't be getting these again.

Great swimbait for inshore predators
The big hammer 6.5" is a great size for enticing larger inshore predators like cabs, lings, and rockfish that are hiding out within casting distance from rocky ledges and jetties. Tie a "skyhook" or stinger hook to the tail portion to ensure more hookups from fish that like to bite the tail off. This size is also great for jigging off boats while on drifts over rocky structure. The 6.5" pairs well with 1.5oz jig heads and up.

Best lingcod swimbaits around
I love these swimbaits for ling cod and rock fish in CA. They can't seem to resist the Senorita on a 4oz head.
