What is a Sandworm?
A common marine annelid is the clamworm, or sandworm (Nereis). Sandworms live in muddy sands in the intertidal and subtidal zones of inland bays and marshes. When the tide comes in, sandworms crawl around on the bottom and prey on tiny invertebrates. When the tide moves out, sandworms burrow in the sand and scavenge on organic debris.
