The Phenix Rods Abyss Series Casting is a complete line of saltwater fishing rods engineered to meet the demands of saltwater applications. The casting models of the Abyss Series includes 12 individual rods ranging from 8' to 10' in length designed for live bait and surface jig saltwater fishing applications. Constructed with Toray Graphite/S-Glass composites, the Abyss rod series is designed for "West Coast" style surface jig and live bait anglers. Traditionally, rod blanks of similar applications tend to be much heavier and have a wider base diameter, which often leads to casting fatigue. The Abyss Series utilizes the ideal strength-to-weight balance, yet ensuring superior lifting power. The rod grip color is not uniform, it varies from rod to rod. We have spoken to Phenix Rods who acknowledged the non-predictable grip colors. At this time they have no plans to make the grip colors standard as the individual who wraps the rods prefers the artistic freedom to pick and choose as he is inspired.

Phenix abyss rods
I have 2 of the 807 ...8 ft...worked great with avet so for 30 to 40 tunas.....great light setup.....I wanted a 808 and 809 for my tranx 400.....nice rods
