Ringed Saltwater Live Bait Hook

The Gamakatsu Ringed Live Bait Hook is a live bait hook designed for salwater applications that necessitate a more natural presentation when using live swimming baits. Ringed hooks have found their place in saltwater anglers tackle boxes due to their proficiency in jaw-hooking fish, much like circle hooks. The solid ring attached to the light live bait hook also allows a more natural presentation of the live bait to the fish being targeted. Other benefits include a higher percentage of fish landed - the ring will reduce the leverage of the fish during the fight which decreases the chance of the hook popping out and the fish getting free. Additionally, traditional hooks are often feature a small gap on the eye of the hook that can result in frayed or broken line if the knot slips.

We offer the Gamakatsu Ringed Live Bait Hook in six sizes: #2 - 4/0. Quantity varies see chart below.

Gamakatsu Ringed Live Bait Hook Benefits

  • Natural Presentation: The live bait attached to the hook is less inhibited and therefore acts more natural with its movements.
  • Reduced Leverage: The leverage the fish uses when fighting is all but lost with the movement of the ring. The hook is more or less hinged now and won't easily allow the fish's movements to shake the hook free.
  • Decreased Gut Hooking: Gut hooking fish is an issue for anglers who practice catch and release. The ringed hook exhibits similar characteristics to a circle style hook which is effective at increasing the number of jaw hooked fish.
  • No Line Fraying: Line fraying can occur when the knot slips to the small gap between the shank and hook eye. No longer can this occur with the addition of the solid ring.
